Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about deploying and evaluating Expanse.
What kind of systems is Expanse designed for?
Expanse is designed for HPC and GPU clusters, including research computing environments that run many workloads across shared infrastructure.
Do users need to change how they submit jobs?
No. During the evaluation period, telemetry is collected passively, and cluster users do not need to modify how they run workloads.
How long does the evaluation take?
The initial process typically spans about two weeks:
- Deployment occurs in the first one to two days.
- The system then observes cluster activity for roughly two weeks.
- A capacity report is delivered at the end of the observation period.
Does the system require tuning?
The observation phase works out of the box and does not require tuning during the evaluation period.
What happens if the results are not compelling?
If the results from the capacity report do not justify a pilot, you can stop there. You keep the report and the insights generated during the evaluation.
