1. Getting Started
  2. Getting Started with Expanse

Expanse is an intelligence layer for HPC and GPU clusters. It predicts resource fit and failure risk at submission time, helping teams run more workloads on existing hardware.

Instead of purchasing additional GPUs or compute capacity, Expanse focuses on unlocking the unused capacity already present in most clusters.

What Expanse helps you do

Expanse analyzes how jobs are submitted and how cluster resources are used. With this information, it can help identify opportunities to increase throughput while reducing avoidable failures.

The result is a clearer picture of:

  • How effectively your cluster is being utilized
  • Where hidden capacity exists
  • How much additional workload your current hardware could support

The two‑week evaluation

Expanse starts with a short evaluation on your infrastructure. The process is designed to require minimal effort and no changes for cluster users.

  1. Get started (Day 1) — Fill out a short form so the Expanse team can understand your cluster and goals.
  2. Set up (Days 1–2) — Deploy Expanse on your infrastructure.
  3. Observe (Weeks 1–2) — Expanse passively gathers telemetry and learns how your cluster operates.
  4. Capacity report (End of Week 2) — You receive a report showing utilization and potential capacity gains.
  5. Decide — You decide whether a pilot makes sense.

If the numbers do not justify moving forward, you still keep the report and the insights gathered during the evaluation.
