Understanding the Capacity Report
What the Expanse capacity report contains and how to interpret the results.
At the end of the observation period, Expanse produces a capacity report for your cluster.
This report summarizes what was learned during the two weeks of telemetry collection and analysis.
What the report includes
The capacity report provides insight into several key areas:
- Effective cluster utilization
- Hidden capacity that may currently go unused
- An estimate of how much of that capacity Expanse could help unlock
These insights are based on how workloads actually ran during the observation period.
Why this matters
Many clusters operate below their potential utilization. Jobs may fail, resources may be mismatched to workloads, or scheduling patterns may lead to unused capacity.
By identifying these patterns, the capacity report helps teams understand whether meaningful gains are possible on existing hardware.
Next step: pilot decision
After reviewing the report, you decide whether to proceed with a pilot.
If the findings suggest that Expanse can address your needs, a pilot can move forward. If not, the evaluation ends and you keep the report and insights.
